A CCD is a microchip that processes the colour that enters a video camera. The difference between conventional video cameras (1 CCD) and 3CCD cameras is that 3CCD cameras have 3 of these CCD microchips. What does this mean? This allows the video camera to process each of the 3 primary colours (RGB) separately, resulting in more vibrant, true-to-life colour.
